About Smarties Day Nursery and Pre-School
Smarties Nursery was founded in June 1987, with the current organisation formed in 2004. The nursery is easily accessible from Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough enabling busy working parents to drop their child off at nursery on their way to work.
The nursery is on two floors. Upstairs we have a well-equipped and spacious baby unit. There is a modern sleep room with a calm and airy feel and two large play rooms. Downstairs our children are split into age groups, 2-3 years old and 3-4 years old. Each group has a base room but they also have immediate access to the outside learning areas in the garden.
In addition to the above facilities we also have a large kitchen, two bathrooms, an office and a room for the use of the children attending our wrap-around care.
Smarties Day Nursery is registered with Ofsted to care for 52 children and is inspected regularly to ensure the quality and standard of care and education. We also provide funded places for 2, 3 and 4 year olds and accept childcare vouchers.
The nursery is based in a large Victorian house complete with a large enclosed garden in the beautiful village of Ripley. Throughout the year children will have the opportunity to explore the village, visiting the farm animals and playing in the woods and park land.
Smarties Day Nursery runs a Key person system of care; this means that your child is cared for by the same practitioner for most of the time they spend in each base room. This ensures that all children develop a warm trusting relationship with their Key person, enabling them to confidently explore, develop and learn. This also provides a point of contact for parents who will receive a report on their child´s day at nursery both verbally and through logging on to the Baby’s Days software which provides parents with the opportunity to view real time information and to give feedback and information on the development and interests of their child at home
At Smarties Day Nursery, we build on a child’s earliest language which is acquired in the home and work to extend the child's range of language experiences through songs, naming resources and using appropriate key words and greetings. We provide a language rich environment and language experiences are structured to include the inter-related areas of listening, talking, early reading and early writing.
